Cat loves to ask 'Why?' about everything - from why leaves change color to why the moon follows you at night. Cat represents the very first step of research: asking questions and observing the world with wonder.

The Mentor & Literature Guide
Professor Hoot is a wise old owl who wears a mortarboard cap and carries a pointer stick. Hoot has read every book in the Library of Leaves and guides the squad through existing research. Hoot represents literature review - understanding what's already been discovered before forging ahead.

Subby is a cute, round robot with an antenna and a heart displayed on its tummy screen. Inspired by the Subthesis platform, Subby helps the squad organize ideas, sort information, calculate odds, and polish their final work. Subby represents technology and AI tools in research.
