Our Commitment

The Little Thesis is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including children, parents, educators, and individuals with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards.

Conformance Status

This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means most of the site meets the standard, but some parts do not yet. We have listed those parts honestly below rather than claiming a clean bill of health, and we are working through them.

What We Do

• Semantic HTML - Proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and ARIA labels throughout the site
• Keyboard navigation - All interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard
• Screen reader support - Content is structured for assistive technology compatibility, and the book reader announces page changes
• Responsive design - Content adapts to all screen sizes and devices, and reflows without horizontal scrolling
• Alt text - Every image carries an alt attribute, and all 100 coloring pages are described by what the artwork actually shows rather than by their titles
• Focus indicators - Visible focus outlines on interactive elements, including the skip link
• Skip navigation - A skip-to-content link that becomes visible when focused
• Colour contrast - All text, including links and buttons, meets or exceeds the AA requirement of 4.5:1 on every background we use, in normal and hover states

Known Limitations

These are the places we currently fall short of Level AA, or where we know the experience is weaker:

• The preferred source dialog. On blog articles, a dialog can open on its own after about twenty seconds of reading, which moves keyboard focus without you asking. You can dismiss it with Escape and it will not return for thirty days. We are aware this conflicts with the principle that changes of context should be user-initiated.
• The interactive book reader requires JavaScript for the page-flip experience. A fully functional image gallery is available as a fallback without JavaScript.

How We Assess This

We check the site by hand: keyboard-only navigation, screen reader spot checks, and contrast ratios calculated directly from our colour palette rather than estimated by eye. This statement was last reviewed in September 2026. It is not a formal third-party audit, and we would welcome one.
