Chapter 6: Telling the Story

The Typewriter

"Time to tell the world what we found."

Curious Cat typing furiously on a vintage typewriter.

About this page

A new chapter begins with a clatter of keys as Curious Cat settles in at a vintage typewriter. The discovery has been made, and now it has to be written down so other people can learn from it. This page opens Chapter 6 and introduces a big idea in a small way, that research is not finished until it is shared. Writing is how the whole journey from observation to publication finds its voice. Children see that even the most curious cat must sit still, gather thoughts, and put them into words.

Talk about it while you color

  • If you were typing the squad's story, what would your first sentence say?
  • What sounds do you think a typewriter makes, and can you make them?
  • How would you tell a friend what the squad discovered?
