About this page
One button, four friends, and a whole lot of courage. Sending your work out into the world is a big deal, so the squad does it the way they have done everything in Chapter 6, together. This page captures both the thrill and the wobble of finishing, the moment a project stops being yours alone and becomes something you share. Pressing send takes teamwork and bravery in equal measure, and children can feel both in this picture. Three, two, one, press!
The research skill
The bunny, the owl, the puppy, and Subby all press one big red Send button together. That is submission: deciding a project is finished and sending it to someone who will judge it, such as a journal, a teacher, or a science fair. Before submitting, researchers check that every part is ready and that all the authors agree. In Chapter 6, it marks the shift from working on something to sharing it. Your child meets it now as handing in homework, and later as submitting projects and applications.
Try it at home
Hold a "ready to send" check for a drawing your child wants to give someone.
- Together, list what makes it finished: a name, a title, colors filled in, nothing missing.
- Check each item and fix anything that is not done yet.
- Make a paper Send button and tape it to the table.
- When everything passes, press the button together, then deliver the work to its reader in person or by mail, and enjoy their reaction.
