Chapter 2: The Library of Leaves
Digging for Treasure
"Finding good information is like hunting for treasure."
The squad digging in a sandbox, but instead of sand, they are digging through papers to find a glowing gem.
About this page
The whole squad is elbow-deep in a sandbox, but instead of sand they are digging through piles of paper, and somewhere underneath glows a gem. It is a perfect picture of what searching for information actually feels like. Not every page you read is treasure, and that is fine, because the digging itself is part of the fun. This scene teaches persistence, the willingness to keep sifting until something truly good turns up. It captures the playful spirit that runs through all of the Library of Leaves chapter, where hard work and games are the same thing.
Talk about it while you color
- What do you think the glowing gem might be? A fact? A secret? Something else?
- Who in the squad do you think will find the gem first, and why?
- Have you ever dug for something and found a surprise? What was it?
