This hardworking little stopwatch is sprinting so fast it is sweating, and kids love that the tool itself becomes a character. Page 52 introduces measurement, one of the quiet heroes of Chapter 4. When researchers want a fair test, they cannot just say something happened quickly or slowly, they measure exactly how long it took. Timing shows up everywhere in a child's day, from brushing teeth to racing to the mailbox, and it powers many simple kitchen science experiments too. Counting seconds together is often a child's very first taste of collecting real data.
