The squad is presenting at the fair, turning their whole adventure into a display people can walk up to and explore. This page is practically a rehearsal for real life, since poster sessions are the heart of science fair success for kids everywhere. Children coloring it absorb the friendly rhythm of presenting, point, explain, answer, smile. Sharing what you found, out loud and in person, is where discoveries come alive.

The research skill

The poster board is packed with pictures, a pie chart, and bar graphs, and the squad points to different parts while an audience of animals looks on. A poster session is a way to present research visually: the board carries the main findings, and the presenters explain them in short, friendly conversations. The skill is choosing a few visuals that tell the story at a glance. It is a centerpiece of Chapter 6, and it becomes the tri-fold board your child may one day stand beside at a school science fair.

Try it at home

Make a mini poster from the plain side of a cereal box or a sheet of paper, about something your child counted, such as toys sorted by color.

1. Add a title at the top.
2. Draw one simple chart in the middle.
3. Add one picture showing how they collected the data.
4. Invite family members or stuffed animals to walk up, and let your child point to each part and explain it in a sentence or two, like the squad.
